Richard "Rick" Lupien

May 26, 1946 — February 21, 2022

Larimore

Rick Lupien, age 75, Larimore, ND, passed away peacefully in sleep at home on Monday, Feb 21.  He will be best remembered for his love for his children, family, friends, his practical jokes, and his love of music. His passion for singing and playing guitar started in college and carried him all through his years. Thanks, Billy for that first guitar lesson. His guitar and mic were set up and ready to enjoy even in his last days.

Rick was born May 26,1946 in Grand Forks, ND to Richard and Florence (Bornsen) Lupien. He was raised on a farm west of Larimore where he too raised his family.  Rick went to Larimore High, attended college at Mayville State, and went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army.  Upon his return from the Army, he married Cindy Greenwood June 5th, 1971.  Rick farmed while raising three children.  He continued his career beyond farming with The Grand Forks Herald in sales. Rick found another family there.

Upon retirement, his love for music continued from Rick and The Arrangers in his 20's, to The DuWayne Hyde Band, and his latest band was Good Timin' Friends. He was able to travel and meet so many other musicians along his road of life. He will be greatly missed. The overwhelming love shown by all that he knew has been beyond words.

He is survived by his three children: Tanya, Jenny, and Jeff (Mindi) Lupien, six  grandchildren: Kyle and Tatem Capouch, Cole, Calvin, Caden, and Cooper Lupien; his sister Sharon Lieberg (Larry), his brother Roger (Nancy) Lupien; nephews Kelly Lieberg and Adam Lupien; neices Wendy Lieberg, Amy Martin, and Lora Lieberg;  his Uncle Freddy Bornsen; many cousins; and special friends Diane Dunmire and Bobby and Kyle Sather.

Funeral Service will be lead by Father Bernie Schneider on Monday, Feb 28th at 2:00 pm at Bakke Funeral Home in Larimore, ND with a visitation one hour prior to the service.  Celebration of life to follow after the funeral at the Larimore Legion with food and beverages served.   Military Honors will be provided by the Ted Valerius Post 97 of the Larimore American Legion.  Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.
