Rodney Halstenson

Rodney Jay Halstenson, age 67, of Niagara, ND passed away July 1, 2022 at his home.

Rodney was born on June 7, 1955 to Earl and Arabelle Halstenson. He graduated from Unity High School Petersburg, ND and attended Mayville State University, majoring in music. Rodney's love for music started with piano lessons in his early childhood. He played many instruments and enjoyed singing. He taught band, choir and piano lessons to students of all ages. He was very dedicated to his students and teaching. His concerts were always excellent and enjoyed by all.

Rodney was a lifetime member of Elk Valley Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He enjoyed going to Bible study at Living Free Lutheran Church Larimore, ND. His strong faith was evident in his caring ways.

He was currently employed at Altru Health in Grand Forks, ND as a greeter. Rodney was always helpful and courteous and took great care in helping guests and patients.

Rodney enjoyed music, movies, reading and visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed sharing family ancestry and had a great memory for all kinds of dates and details. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Rodney is survived by his brother Jack (Gloria) Halstenson of Niagara, ND, Sister Barbara (Rick) Gannarelli of Rolla, ND. Niece Heidi (Scott) Rohrich. Nephews; Timothy Halstenson Lowell (Melissa) Halstenson, Matthew Halstenson, Chris (Sheila) Barry, Tavis Barry, Lucas (Kayla) Gannarelli, Dustin (McKayla) Gannarelli, Riley (Terra) Gannarelli and 18 great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Barry, brother Juel Halstenson and niece Angela Barry.

Visitation: Thursday July 7, 2022 at 6pm Bakke Funeral Home, Larimore, ND. Prayer service at 7pm.

Funeral: Friday July 8, 2022 at 11am in Elk Valley Lutheran Church rural McCanna, ND. Visitation one hour prior.

Internment: Elk Valley Cemetery
