Rodney Dean Offerdahl, 60, of Fordville, ND, died on the family farm on Saturday, January 13, 2018.
Known as 'Shorty' to his community, he was born on March, 8, 1957, at Grafton, ND, the son of Harvey and Clarice (Thompson) Offerdahl, and spent his entire life on the family farm. He loved farming. As a child he couldn't wait to drive the truck and tractor. He graduated from Fordville High School in 1975. Following high school, he attended AVTI Vocational School in East Grand Forks, MN, and became a welder. In addition to helping on the family farm, he worked for Daniel Shirek for about ten years as a hired hand. He then built and opened his own welding shop on the family farm and did that for several years in addition to farming and raising cattle with his dad.
Rodney is survived by his sister, Jilene Scherbenske (Stephen) of Kansas City, MO; one uncle, Clayton Offerdahl of Dickinson, ND; 3 nieces, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Clarice Offerdahl.
The funeral is scheduled for 11 am Thursday, January 18, at the Fordville Lutheran Church in Fordville, ND. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fordville.
