ROSCOE COTTRELL
Roscoe Cottrell, age 93, presently residing in Niagara, ND, with his son James since 2007, has passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Roscoe was born August 2, 1921 in Clay County, West Virginia, the son of the late Carrie and Delia (Truman) Cottrell, the third child of eleven children. As a young man, he worked eleven years in the coal mines of West Virginia. He was in the Navy Seabees, stationed in the Philippines for two years, from 1944 – 1945. In 1951, he completed diesel mechanic school in Chicago, Illinois. He returned to West Virginia and moved his family to Baltimore, Maryland. There, he worked at the Bethlehem Steel Shipyard and retired in 1983.
Roscoe married Marlene May Thomas (deceased) in 1941 and they had five children: Madelene Agnes Crews (husband Jim, deceased) residing in Alabama; James Eugene Cottrell (wife Elaine) residing in Niagara, ND; Oscar Wilbert Cottrell (wife Dianne) residing in Baltimore, MD; Betty Jo Cooper (deceased 2013) and Danny Paul Cottrell, residing in Baltimore, MD.
In 1962, Roscoe married Dorothy Hudnell (deceased). Step children: Harold Hudnell (wife Marge) residing in Baltimore, MD; Gene Hudnell (deceased). Also step nephews Jerry Hidey (wife Pam) residing in Chicago, IL; and Dennis Hidey (deceased).
Roscoe is also survived by two sisters: Rose Foster and Shirley Carling, both residing in Bolivar, Ohio; 25 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.


FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the Bakke Funeral Home Chapel, Larimore, ND.

VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral.

INTERMENT: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.
