Ruth E. Miller, age 91, of Larimore, ND, went to be with her Lord Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center in Larimore.
Ruth Elizabeth Kjelgaard was born December 18, 1924 to John and Esther (Pederson) Kjelgaard in Wolf Point, Montana. She graduated Wolf Point High School and went on to receive her R. N. degree from Montana State in Bozeman, Montana.
While visiting her aunt Marie in the Larimore area she met her future husband of 62 years, Russell E. Miller. They were wed at Prairie Elk Lutheran Church in the Prairie Elk Community, which was where she attended grade school.
After their marriage they lived and farmed west of Larimore. She also worked as an R.N. at the old Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks, in the Northwood Hospital and Home and the Larimore Good Samaritan Center.
She and her husband loved to travel, dance and spend time with their grandchildren. She was active in Bethel Lutheran Church’s ladies aid and various activities. And, if politics became part of the discussion, she was all in.
Surviving family members include her sons: Erwin (Karen) Miller, Larimore; Owen (Renee) Miller, New Castle, WY; daughters: Eunice (Bert) Van der Linden, Scotts Valley, CA; Irene (Ron) Mayo, Garner, NC; grandchildren: Paul, John, David, Grant Miller; Adam, Aaron, Ryan Miller; Heather Parker, Matt Anderson, Matthew Ryan, Charity Inglis, Ronald Mayo and 18 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell, daughter Kathleen; grandchild Christopher Mayo; great grandchildren Jared Miller and Dalton Miller. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers: Orville “Buster”, Harold and Arnold, as well as her three sisters: Margaret Tande, Ellen Long and Marie Long Vaughn.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church of rural Larimore, ND.
VISITATION: Tuesday, November 29 from 5-7 p.m. in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Wednesday.
INTERMENT: Bethel Church Cemetery, rural Larimore.
