Sara Elise (Strauss) Lewis

Sara Elise (Strauss) Lewis, age 27, of Larimore, ND, gained her angel wings on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

Sara was born January 23, 1989 in Redwood City, CA, the daughter of Fred and Jeanine (Holweger) Strauss. In May, 1989, the family moved to Larimore, ND, where she was raised and attended school. Sara enlisted in the United States Army in 2006 and received her Honorable Discharge in 2010. Sara graduated from Larimore High School in 2007, attended UND, and then continued her education at Toni and Guy Hairdressing Academy. She married Joe Lewis on February 1, 2008 in Watertown, NY. Joe and Sara then had two beautiful children, Taylynn (age 6) and Aiden (age 3).

Surviving members of her family include her husband Joe Lewis, daughter Taylynn and son Aiden; her parents Fred and Jeanine Strauss, Larimore; sisters Amanda (Ian) Reinhart, Columbus, OH and Susan Strauss, Fargo; maternal grandparents Jerome and Jan Holweger, Larimore; paternal grandfather Fred Strauss, Sr. (Barbara), Prunedale, CA; and maternal great grandmother Ethel Erickson, Larimore.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Ruth Krause.

Sara was very loved and will be missed by many loving family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the American Red Cross and/or the Humane Society.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Larimore.

VISITATION: Monday, September 26 from 6-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Tuesday.
