STEVEN DONALD BODE

Steven Donald Bode, the son of Donald and Vera (Behm) Odegaard, was born on January 14, 1948 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in St.
Andrew’s Lutheran Church at Niagara, North Dakota and received his early education near his childhood home. Steve attended High School in Larimore, and graduated with the Class of 1966.

He was united in marriage to Susan Bornsen, and to this union were born four children. It was also at this time that they moved into Larimore to make their home.

Steve worked at different jobs and positions until enrolling in the University of North Dakota, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in theology.
It was after his college years when Steve went to work for Swanson Excavation, which became his life’s work.

Steve was a lifelong, active member of St. Andrew’s Church, including Lutherans for Life. His church was always very important in his life. He had also served as a hospice volunteer for several years.

Steve passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota, having reached the age of 69 years, 6 months, 18 days.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Bode, and his stepfather, Obert Odegaard.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Sheyenne (Chris) Seely, Nathan (Erin) Bode, Katrina (Adam) Bode, and Kristin (Mark Schmidt) Bode; his grandchildren: Alexandria, Maxwell, Zane, Harley, Harrison, Charlotte, Tomlin, Payton, Gabrial, Lennon, and Henry; his great-grandson, Calvin; his mother: Vera Odegaard; one brother: Leon Bode; two sisters: Judy Korniek and Lillian Machart; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Steven Bode will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Niagara, North Dakota with burial to follow in St. Andrew’s parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Bakke Funeral Home in Larimore, North Dakota.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bakke Funeral Home in Larimore.
