Thomas "Tom" Solseng

Thomas “Tom” Solseng of Larimore, ND passed away on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks at the age of 71 years.

Tom was born on Jan. 15, 1947, the son of Oscar and Thelma Berg Solseng.  Tom was raised and grew to manhood in the McCanna, ND area.  He attended and graduated from Larimore High School.  He served in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge he returned to farm in the McCanna area, where he was married and had two children, in addition to his three stepsons. After farming on his own, he worked for various area farmers. Tom enjoyed traveling and took many trips to Las Vegas and to the casino in Devils Lake, where he made many lifelong friends. He had a great love of cars and spent many weekends drag racing in Sabin, MN.

Tom’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Through his recent years and struggles with his health, he NEVER lost his sense of humor.  That will be missed as much as he will be by all.

He is survived by his significant other: Roberta “Bobbi” Larimore; son: Parker Solseng of Minneapolis, MN; daughter: Andrea “Annie” Solseng of Las Vegas, NV; their mother, Barbara Solseng, Stepchildren: Chris Haugen, Terry Haugen, Lindsey (Kristi) Haugen: “other kids” Stacy (Jim) Schlett, Jim (Rachael) Larimore, Steve (Stephanie) Larimore, and many grandchildren.

His immediate family surviving is:  sister Mary (Elden) Englund of Jamestown, ND, brothers: Forrest (Donna) Solseng of Larimore, ND, Joe (Bev) Solseng of Grand Forks, ND, Phillip (Claudine) Solseng of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law: Rose (Bob) Olson of Northwood, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Charles.

Services for Tom will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 1:00PM in the Bakke Funeral Chapel of Larimore.  The Rev. Marilyn Nyberg will officiate. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.   Military honors will be accorded by the Ted Valerius Post 97, Larimore American Legion.
