Vera Odegaard

Vera Odegaard, age 93, of McVille and formerly Niagara, ND, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Nelson County Health System in McVille.

Vera was born September 14, 1925 at rural Niagara, the daughter of John and Ella (Strassburg) Behm.  She received Holy Baptism and confirmed her Christian faith at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.  Vera was raised and grew to womanhood in the Niagara area and received her public education at a rural church school.   Vera was united in marriage to Obert Odegaard on December 13, 1975 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.  He preceded her in death on July 14, 1991.

Surviving members of her family include daughters:  Lillian Machart, Cooperstown, ND and Judy Korinek, Breckenridge, MN; son Leon (Denise) Bode, Grenfell, Saskatchewan, Canada; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law Marlys Berdal, Grand Forks and Vivian Behm, Larimore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Steve Bode, grandson Timothy, sons-in law:  Tom Machart and Tom Korinek; sisters:  Ellen, Louise, Adeline, Doris, Caroline, Loretta and brothers:  Fernie, John, Art and Edgar.

FUNERAL SERVICES:  2 p.m. Monday, July 22 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Niagara.

VISITATION:  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Monday.

INTERMENT:   Lom Church Cemetery, rural Niagara.
