Warren Hullett Snyder, 87 of Arvilla, North Dakota. To quote William Wordsworth: “And then my heart with pleasure fills, and dances with the daffodils.” Warren’s infinite love of nature and his passionate pursuit of gardening were passed down to him by his grandmother Ellen. We will miss his enthusiastic attitude in discovering new hobbies (of which there were many), his occupation of working hard to make the world more lovely through gardening and sharing, and his ability of helping those who needed assistance from someone who “didn’t mind getting his hands dirty.” We say farewell to our beloved Warren who died on August 4, 2015 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, ND.
Born on July 12, 1928 in Grand Forks, ND to Roger and Irene (Hullett) Snyder, he began his early life in Arvilla, ND. In 1950 he joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Europe. He returned back to his birthplace after living in Los Angeles, CA, Michigan, ND, Ellendale, ND, and Las Vegas, NV. A man who loved to work with his hands from an early age, he owned and operated many businesses along the way. At the age of 18, he purchased Standard Oil and Gas in Arvilla, ND. He worked for the Los Angeles Ambulance Company on his return from the Korean War, then purchased Standard Oil and Gas in Michigan, ND. In 1960 he partnered into E & S Ford, also in Michigan, ND. In 1968 he bought Snyder Ford in Ellendale, ND. Always one who believed in the power of working together to make a community stronger, he was a tireless volunteer to many organizations. He taught his children to work hard, give back, and to notice the marvels of the natural world.
Warren leaves behind his wife Marianne, his daughters; Teri (Gary), Tamara (Jeff), Dixie (Ken), Stacey (Kent), and Ann (Todd). Grandchildren; Nolan (Anja), Sean, Jacob, Ellen, Jared, Emma, Abraham, Grace, Maxwell, Alicia, Wade, Lily, Clair, and Tony. Great-granddaughters; Isis and Dagny.
