Wesley Wolfgram

Wesley Wolfgram, 91, Grand Forks, formerly of Niagara, died Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Valley Senior Living after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Niagara, at 11:00 am, with visitation at the church that morning from 9:00 to 11:00 am, with Rev. Lester Wolfgram officiating. Burial in the St. Andrew Cemetery, rural Niagara, will follow the service.

Wesley Vernon Wolfgram was born on August 27, 1934, to Herman and Ella (Schmidt) Wolfgram on the farm in Niagara. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Niagara, and attended the parochial school there as well as the public school in Niagara, where he graduated in 1952. After attending an agriculture short course at NDSU, he began his long career of farming with his brothers Leonard and Harold, retiring in 2017 at the age of 82. He was involved in community organizations including the Unity School Board and more than 50 years as the clerk of Plymouth Township. He was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir and the St. Andrew Men’s Quartet and served as treasurer and cemetery sexton for many years.

He married Emmaline (Emmy) Scott on July 24, 1971, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. They were blessed with three children, Linda, Laurie, and Jonathon, and eight grandchildren. He and Emmy loved to attend their children’s and grandchildren’s activities and could be found in the stands cheering on whatever teams the kids were playing on or enjoying their school concerts. He was always up for an adventure, from Sunday drives checking the crops to long road trips to visit family and friends. Just a month ago, he and Emmy flew to Indianapolis to see Laurie’s new home, their first time flying in 20 years.

Wesley loved to visit with people and had the Wolfgram gift of making a short story long. He could strike up a conversation with anyone. After moving to Grand Forks a few years ago, the highlight of his daily routine was coffee with his friends at the Northside Cafe. When we learned he hadn’t gone to coffee for a whole week, we knew he really wasn’t feeling well. He spent a week in the hospital, where he remained clear-headed despite his serious illness. We are grateful for the family time we had at the end of his life. Lest anyone think he had given up too easily, he put up with several procedures until it became clear that his condition was not improving, then was ready for the Lord to take him home.

Wesley is survived by his wife, Emmy, Grand Forks; children, Linda (Pete) Kramer, Gibbon, MN; Laurie (Greg) Mosshammer, Westfield, IN; and Jon (Alicia) Wolfgram, Thompson, ND; eight grandchildren, Ben, Jonah, Emma Grace, and Anna Kramer, Lauryn (Tristen) Uglem, Leighton and Brayden Wolfgram, and Taylor Mosshammer; sister Claudia Wolfgram; sisters-in-law Betty Wolfgram, Harriet Wolfgram, Mavis Peterson, and Jackie Scott; brothers-in-law Randy and Denny Scott; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Theodore in infancy, Lawrence, Leonard, Harold, and Ron Wolfgram; sister Corinne Kroonblawd; brothers-in-law Bill Kroonblawd and Dewaine Scott; sisters-in-law Dorothy Wolfgram, Marj Scott, and Barb Scott.

The family would like to thank the staff at Altru Hospital, HIA Hospice, and Valley Senior Living for their care during Wesley’s final days.
